Works perfectly - with Win 98 and Zone Alarm May 27, 2002
By WordLover I'm sorry to read that some customers have had problems. In my experience, NAV is effective and effortless to install and use. I am using an overburdened IBM Thinkpad laptop running Windows 98 SE and have had an entirely positive experience with NAV. It installed without a hitch and has had no conflicts with Zone Alarm or any of the other Internet and security software I am running. NAV is an essential tool - highly recommended.

Works very well Apr 30, 2002
By C. Cosner I've installed and maintained a slightly earlier version of this product on over 40 computers on a campus network, on NT, 95 (yes!), 98, ME, and 2000. Only once have I had a hitch with installation. Though this was annoying, the symantec site had correct, detailed instructions for the getting around the bug. Several of these computers run Outlook, the most vulnerable e-mail software, but they are set to update definitions daily. With updated definitions and auto-protect on, I've never had a virus trash a computer. NAV has caught and quarantined around 50 viruses in the past year (that users have notified me about), and users have probably deleted some viruses on their own. It can't be perfect, but it's track record for me has been nearly perfect.

No Hitches, surprise, surprise! Jul 02, 2002
A computer user of only average skill, I was prepared to be frustrated when my laptop needed a security upgrade. Reviews of most products, including reviews on Amazon, are rife with nightmares, complications, and dissatifaction with the general level of difficulty that accompanies AntiVirus software. Surprise, surprise! The product is a simple as anyone could wish to install (and I've tried the online updates: equally simple) with concise directions and clear prompts. The defaults were appropriate for me, but there was obviously room for sophisticated users to customize the configurations. I am happy with the product and relieved by the ease of installation. An average user can buy this item with confidence.

Easy to install, it inspires confidence to see it work. Jun 21, 2002
By V. Theel I feel confident and comfortable that any website I visit, or possible virus I may inadvertantly come into contact with will be detected and disabled, thanks to Norton Antivirus 2002. Well worth the investment; especially with free updates for a year.

Unobtrusive yet comprehensive Oct 05, 2002
By Stephen Horowitz This program truly is the king of Anti-virus software. It's auto-protect feature, which automatically scans files downloaded from the internet and copied from a CD or floppy really makes me feel secure. The automatic virus-definition updater also ensures that you have the maximum possible protection. All of this without my having to think about it: it's just always there and always working.
