5Powerful desktop PC but doesn't take up a lot of space  Nov 25, 2007
By G. G. Galang "aquaman70"
I've finally decided to replace my 7 year old desktop tower. My previous computer was slow, big, and heavy. This HP Pavilion Slimline is the total opposite. I even upgraded it to Windows Ultimate and it works great!

I've been doing a lot of photo scanning, editing, and organizing. I was able to load my previous photos and install Photoshop Elements 5 and it works well (there is a Vista patch for Photoshop Elements 5). I'm amazed at how fast it is. I was planning on updating the video card since that is a little slow but I think I can wait a little bit as I get into video editing and install the cable from the other room to the computer so I can really use the Windows Media Center functions.

I'm so glad I bought this. I was considering a Mac Mini or a Shuttle but this is the best value if you're not really wanting a Mac.

5Good value for the price  Dec 01, 2007
By J. Frasher
This computer is the heart of our budget home theater. We bought this when Office Depot had a $200.00 rebate, so it was very inexpensive $499.00). We use a very capable Vizio 42 inch 1080p tv as the monitor. We run the audio through an ancient Sony receiver and early Bose Acustimas speaker system (so what if it is almost twenty years old, it still sounds great). The included tuner pulls in our local over the air HDTV stations and they look fantastic on our TV. We record all of our favorite network shows through the media center software included in Windows Vista. Awesome playback of recorded HD content. The picture quality is superior to what we receive through our Brighthouse cable signal (we are going to cancel cable and go with Direct TV for more HD content and superior quality). The 400 gig hard drive is generous enough. We'll be adding a USB external drive once the prices for a TB drive dip below $150.00. Two gigs of RAM are more than sufficient for most purposes. The AMD processor works fine. There is no reason to insist on an Intel processor. We had to upgrade the wireless antenna to get consistent wireless connectivity to our router (we have a big house and our wireless router is pretty far away). The multi card reader is a great feature for viewing photos from our digital camera or putting music on a SD card to use in a portable mp3 player. There is also a front mounted port for HPs proprietary portable drive system (good idea , but the price for the removable drive is ridiculous). Overall, for the net price that we paid for this PC, it is an excelant value for a media center PC.

5Fast, compact and beautiful!  Dec 11, 2007
By Diego Trejos Q
The first thing you're going to notice (and love) is the size of this PC. It's sleek, modern and space saving. It's incredibly easy to set up and start enjoying it.

You'll love Windows Media Center and being able to watch and record HD content. You can even rewind and pause TV shows without recording them, or listen to the news while you surf the net. Another great thing about this little wonder is that is really quiet, I hate noisy computers, especially if you work at night when everyone's sleeping, but you'll barely hear it. The remote is great to watch tv or dvd's, and you can even turn the computer off/on with it!

Games look really good on this one, and Windows Vista looks stunning. Overall, a great computer with a great prize.

4HP & Vista Review  Jan 23, 2008
By Vernon H. Fix
The HP Pavilion Slimline 3200 is great. It is performing everything as expected and doing it well.

The Vista however is a mess. Although it seems to do at least as much as my WinXP on another computer, they have moved all the screens around and nothing is where you'd expect it. Some things don't even work correctly. I would give Win Vista barely a passing mark.

5IT'S A MUST HAVE... WITH ALL THE BELLS & WHISTLES ATTACHED!  Mar 17, 2008
By A. Bonitto "Dre Dre"
The Good:

It's an awesome buy! It's been almost 3 months since i purchase, which makes this review valid! So here we go,

0.) Fast Free Delivery!

1.) Blazing Fast: I'm a person who's had the experience using very high tech and fast computers whether professionally or personally. This computer can act as both. Opening up numerous applications at once doesn't slow the computer down nor hogs up memory usage because of the double process built right in. CD Burning & DVD Burning should be in another category of its own for the positives, but it's all gravy.. all i can say for these two is BlaZing Fast!

2.) Stylish: It's call the [Slimline] for a reason... it's portable! lol... you would think laptops and PDAs are the only hotshots that can move from point A to point B. this little machine packs the punch of the big guys yet small enough and sleek enough to lay horizontal/vertical somewhere on the entertainment center with the right hook ups for a true "In Your Face, Dude Don't Touch" entertainment experience. In addition, you can go wireless! It comes with its own little wireless antenna at the back. Lastly, it requires little cleaning... (Does take smudges and fingerprints if used on a daily basis) i would say at least every month and a half with a dusk cloth should do.

3.) Entertainment: ugh... can i saw breath taking! YES! It really is... Vista Premium is nothing like basic and the other flimsy they put together for a quick buck. Vista Home Premium is a true Vista OS experience for beginners, Intermediates, and Professionals. I personally believe they should do away with Vista basic and the other version (Can't remember now) and just lunch Vista Home Premium as the kick off for a decent price. It has everything and more! The Media Center is off the hook! All you have to do to Watch Cable TV via Media center is... (lol too easy) hook the cable to the back of the CPU, make sure you have a great monitor or TV with VGA, HDD, or SVGA connection, put batteries (included) in remote (comes with desktop & keyboard), and you're good to go. The nice thing about watching TV on my new Flat Screen 24-inch monitor is the color is crispier than on my hold TV, sound quality improved... it honestly felt i was watching TV in High Def! The Media Center has every thing and more to make a long story short.

Secondly, it's great for playing video games! I honestly toss the old getting a Wii or PS3 for the summer from my mind because of how impressed i was in seeing the graphics hands-on. World of Warcraft and Flyff are two impressive online games that's worth checking out. But it does offer built in extras (It's from HP... you know they always attach the extras) of all different genres of games to try & buy or play for free. Vista games suck! lol. Sorry Bill Gates, but geesh... Chess? old Card games? Minesweeper? lol... get with the program... give us Halo! or the new Age of Emperors to juggle with. Yes reviewer, i haven't forgotten to mention that it's the new Graphics Processor that's built-in to this slimline model.
Watching DVD's, Recording DVD's, Recording Live TV Shows, Burning Games, Playing CDs, Pictures, iTunes & MP3's, Audio Mixing & Splicing, Designing, Animations, Web site creations, softwares, etc. are all concerns of today's generation. And YES This computer can handle them.

4.) Profession: Microsoft suite programs 07-8 (Though expensive) is worth the price... I have the trial version currently and i'm planning on purchasing the real deal when i have the cash. why? Because it's easy to maneuver, i love the tabs, GUI is easy on the eyes, tons of options and customizations, and best of all to me it seems that Microsoft created the programs to be more insync with each other.. what surprises me i that i can really create professional looking flyer templates, resumes, and newsletter from scratch in Microsoft Word without needing to buy Ms Publisher. Being able to create and maintain one's web site should be a breeze for all those entrepreneurs because of the huge Hard Drive, large RAM, and power saving options. All you need is a good software for web site development and you're set!

Secondly, the new outlook express known as Mail is awesome! i integrate mines with aol so i can have that upgraded outlook business feel (without the ads) when checking my email.

--- And that's it for the goods... i asure you there's more.. waaay more that i don't have the time to add which is worth checking out and the fact that as more software continues to grow with the future and vista the possibilities are endless... i use to be a vista hater and a Oh i'm sticking with XP so don't tell me smash kind of attitude. But after experience Home Premium... my mind has been change with the WoW Factor.

The Bad.

1.) Rebate is not as easy to get as they make it seems... i'm still figuring out how to... lol. maybe it's time to give HP a call..

2.) Keyboard and mouse are standard... but good.. i wish they were Wireless.

3.) I wish there was a slice of pie snuggled together in all that wrappings that came in the box... lol..

Overall, i definately recommend this slimeline as a must have! You can't get it anywhere at that price from nowhere else!

-----
Updates, It's been almost 3 more months since i gave this review.. and! it remains valid. In addition, i found out that it has built in LiteScribe Technology which allows you to Laser zap your CDs into sweeet designs instead of using paper, gluesticks, and glitters to make an appealing CD lable
